National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — Orange Shirt Day
September 30 is the inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.
Today is a good day for reflection and taking action towards truth and reconciliation.
There are many events taking place around the city of Vancouver, the province of BC and across Canada.

Lexéywa Art Activism: A recalling of a residential school experience.
Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc worldwide drumming circle. Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation is inviting people across the world to simultaneously drum for the missing children of Indian residential schools on the first ever National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. The time, 2:15 pm, was chosen to signify the 215 children found on the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in May of this year. Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc is urging everyone to learn the Secwepemc Honour Song, which can be accessed on YouTube. 2:15 pm
We will be attending the event at Britannia Centre. This event is in partnership with the Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS), the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre (VAFC), and the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre (VACPC).
Meme Tees: messages of hope believes that housing, and prioritizing financial resources for housing for indigenous people is a good step towards reconciliation.
